Barely 48hrs back after 11 years of construction, the Santa Cruz -- Chembur Link Road was thrown open to public. I started my journey from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and we cruise through the mighty flyover. For a few metres near Kurla, there is a signal and then Link Road continues upto Santacruz. The Santa Cruz -- Chembur Link Road (SCLR), is a 6.45 km long arterial road in Mumbai, connecting the Western Express Highway (WEH) in Santa Cruz with the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) in Chembur. It contains India's first double-decker flyover. The six-lane road was constructed as part of the World Bank-funded Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) at a cost of INR454 crore (US$76 million). The World Bank withdrew funding midway through the project due to repeated delays, and the second phase was financed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) with its own funds. Now you can reach Santacruz to Chembur in 15-20mins. Earlier it used to take 1hrs or even more. Camera: SONY HDR PJ50E
